An industry veteran’s perspective on credit reports

April 26, 2011 by marykathryn.jarcy

I started in this industry as the naïve college grad. I had never looked at a credit report. I had no idea commercial credit reports existed. In college we spent endless hours analyzing financial statements. None of us knew there was a central business credit repository, credit scores could predict the future behavior, it’s often important to review the owner’s personal credit history.

I quickly learned, credit reports are an important chapter in the credit story of a business. The credit story for each business will vary; size of business, type of credit activity, history of public record are examples of some of the information that will vary within each. As you are making your next credit decision consider whether you have the complete story.

How do you get the complete story on a business you are evaluating? Send me your comments.
