Business Information Services Enjoys the Spirit of Giving Back

December 06, 2013 by Gary Stockton

Yesterday, the Business Information Services crew enjoyed an afternoon holiday lunch celebration followed by a team volunteering outing to the Orange County Olive Crest charities in Santa Ana. Laura Desoto, our Senior V.P, treated us all to a great barbeque lunch at Famous Daves, and led the group in a spirited white elephant gift exchange. Yours truly walked away with iTunes and peppermint candy canes.

After lunch we went over to Olive Crest, a wonderful Orange County charity who specializes in working with abused, neglected children and their families. We were on-site to wrap gifts, tell stories, team bond and generally bring good cheer to the neighborhood. Judging from the pictures below, a great time was had by all. The team at Olive Crest were great to us. They grouped us all in a big room filled with unwrapped gifts, wrapping paper, scissors, bows and tape. While we wrapped, we listened to music and chatted about our holiday plans. It was a really great feeling all afternoon to learn more about each of the people on the team while helping out.

Since 1973, Olive Crest has helped over 60,000 abused, neglected and at-risk kids. Many of these children are in very challenging situations. As we wrapped gifts, we labeled them with the contents, age range and indicated whether the gift was for a boy or a girl. It's quite poignant reading what these little people would like Santa to bring them, but it also makes your heart feel good to volunteer.
