Experian has released an update to the Business Information Map for Q4 2017. The map provides a state and metro level view of small business credit performance on a quarterly and year over year basis.
Average risk scores remain strong
With the national average business credit risk score hovering at 56.28 - top performing metro areas include Portland, Oregon, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Santa Rosa, California, Seattle, Washington and Grand Rapids Michigan with risk scores of 59.6 or above.
Delinquency remains historically low, but south east struggles
The national average delinquency rate for small businesses hovers around 8.9 percent with Ann Arbor, Michigan in first place with the lowest delinquency rate of 5.23 percent. While several cities in the south east have delinquency rates more than 20 percent.
Ann Arbor Michigan pays their vendors the fastest
With the national average of bills being paid 6.2 days beyond terms, Ann Arbor, Michigan stands out as a top performer with an average DBT score of 2.6, Akron, Ohio, Santa Rosa, California and Milwaukee, Wisconsin all have DBT scores well below the national average, while Miami, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia make their creditors wait more than 18 days beyond terms on average.
